We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Autism Support Specialist at The Joshua School. As a valued member of our staff, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality support services to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Job Summary

This is a dynamic opportunity for a Para Professional who is passionate about working with individuals with developmental disabilities. You will be responsible for collaborating with our experienced team to implement evidence-based practices, provide emotional support, and promote independence in daily living skills.

About the Role

This position requires a strong commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for students. As an Autism Support Specialist, you will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to develop and implement personalized plans that cater to the unique needs of each student. Your expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) will enable you to create engaging and effective learning experiences that foster growth and development.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues. A strong understanding of behavioral principles and strategies is essential, along with experience working with individuals with ASD or similar developmental disabilities. Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized plans for students with ASD.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students, focusing on developing life skills, socialization, and emotional regulation.
  • Implement ABA techniques and strategies to promote learning and behavior change.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress.
  • Participate in regular meetings with parents, guardians, and other professionals to ensure consistency and coordination of care.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with individuals with ASD or similar developmental disabilities.
  • Familiarity with ABA principles and practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
