Job Summary

The Defense Commissary Agency is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Lead Store Associate. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading employees in carrying out work assignments within the DeCA system, performing a variety of duties including distributing workload, stocking groceries and produce items, and checking-out customer purchases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Workload Distribution: Distribute and balance workload among employees, ensuring timely accomplishment of assigned workload.
  • Work Monitoring: Monitor the status of work and make adjustments in accordance with established priorities.
  • Training and Development: Provide on-the-job training in specific tasks and job techniques.
  • Work Method Improvement: Recommend changes in work methods to improve timeliness and quality of work.
  • Employee Performance: Provide input to supervisor on employee performance, conduct, and training needs.
  • Commissary Operations: Perform work in various areas of the commissary.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship: Be a U.S. citizen or national. Applicants with a Permanent Resident Card are authorized to live and work in the U.S. but are not eligible for employment in positions requiring U.S. citizenship.
  • Age Requirement: Meet minimum age requirement.
  • Selective Service: Males born after must be registered with or exempt from Selective Service.
  • Background Investigation: Be able to obtain and maintain clearance eligibility based on the appropriate background investigation.
  • Physical Requirements: Meet the physical requirements identified in the Qualifications section.
  • Education: You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date.
Qualifications
  • Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level.
  • Education: Four (4) full years of successfully completed education above high school at an accredited business, secretarial, technical school, junior college, college, or university.
  • Combination of Experience and Education: To calculate the combination, divide your total months of experience by 12, then divide your semester hours by 60 and add the two percentages.
Additional Requirements
  • Physical Requirements: (1) Stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and climb for prolonged periods. (2) Lift, push, pull, carry, and handle items weighing up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Time-in-Grade: Time-in-grade applies to the promotion of current and former federal employees who hold or have held a permanent GS position in either the competitive or excepted service in the previous 52 weeks.
  • Time after Competitive Appointment: Current federal civilian employees must have completed at least 90 days of federal civilian service since being selected for a non-temporary appointment from a competitive examination register of eligibles.
