We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at the Town of Butner. This role is responsible for a variety of paraprofessional accounting and fiscal duties, including payroll processing, financial reporting, and budget preparation.
Responsibilities- Prepare bi-weekly employee payroll, transfer, review, and audit timesheet data for accuracy, FLSA compliance, and leave accuracy.
- Troubleshoot and correct financial software issues, recommend changes to technology procedures, and participate in evaluation of new software.
- Reconcile various Town accounts, perform sales and use tax reporting, journal entries, and maintain a variety of files and records.
- Assist with creating, updating, maintaining database, and publishing annual budget document.
- Perform research, problem-solving, and data entry to ensure accuracy in financial records.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Strong knowledge of financial software, including Tyler ERP PRO 10.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Competitive salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year.
