Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at the Town of Butner. This role is responsible for a variety of paraprofessional accounting and fiscal duties, including payroll processing, financial reporting, and budget preparation.

• Prepare bi-weekly employee payroll, transfer, review, and audit timesheet data for accuracy, FLSA compliance, and leave accuracy.
• Troubleshoot and correct financial software issues, recommend changes to technology procedures, and participate in evaluation of new software.
• Reconcile various Town accounts, perform sales and use tax reporting, journal entries, and maintain a variety of files and records.
• Assist with creating, updating, maintaining database, and publishing annual budget document.
• Perform research, problem-solving, and data entry to ensure accuracy in financial records.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in accounting or finance.
• Strong knowledge of financial software, including Tyler ERP PRO 10.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
