Job Summary

Woolpert is seeking a highly skilled Utility Location Field Supervisor to lead a team of utility locators/designators and SUE technicians in conducting on-site investigations to map and mark underground utilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient utility detection to support construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and mapping projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize electromagnetic locating and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) systems to detect and accurately map underground utilities.
  • Assign work, manage crew schedules, maintain project records, monitor work quality, and provide performance feedback as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members.
  • Monitor project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Train and develop SUE technician skills for advancement.
  • Create and maintain training guidelines, materials, and records.
  • Liaise with clients, project managers, and stakeholders to communicate findings and project status.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED and applicable OSHA certifications.
  • Proficient with multiple forms of electromagnetic locating equipment and GPR equipment.
  • 6 years of related work experience, preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position.
  • Average communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to travel frequently and extensively, overnight and/or out of town.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with data transfer, Microsoft Suite, email, and basic software used in surveying.
  • Valid driver's license and pass a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Maintain satisfactory driving record, as required by our insurance company.
  • Successfully pass pre-employment background and drug screening.

Working Conditions
The work is performed primarily in outdoor environments, often in remote and rugged locations. Exposure to various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, walking on uneven terrain, and carrying equipment. Use of personal protective equipment as required.
