Touro University California is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Aid Advisor to join our team. As a Financial Aid Advisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring that students receive the financial assistance they need to succeed in their academic pursuits.
Key Responsibilities- Student Counseling and Support: Meet with students, parents, and other stakeholders to explain and discuss the details of the financial aid application and awarding processes, including federal, state, institutional, and other relevant programs.
- Financial Aid Processing: Utilize federal, state, and internal software to process financial aid, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Eligibility Determination: Determine eligibility for federal, state, institutional, and other aid programs in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, guidelines, and other governing criteria.
- Award Notification and Disbursement: Formulate, produce, and distribute financial aid award notifications, ensuring that awarded financial aid is appropriately disbursed and credited to students' accounts.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, including attending workshops, seminars, and webinars for professional development, and utilizing federal and state webinars to remain current with new regulations.
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: 1-3 years of financial aid experience preferred.
- Skills: Strong customer service and organizational skills, computer literacy, experience with financial aid systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Physical Demands: Extensive use of computers, extensive time sitting and standing, and ability to lift up to 5 lbs.
