The Lead Veterinary Support Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the veterinary assistant and technician teams, ensuring high standards of care and operational efficiency within the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources Management:
- Supervise, assess, and manage the performance of all veterinary support staff.
- Organize and manage staff schedules using established templates.
- Conduct interviews and facilitate the hiring process for new veterinary assistants and technicians.
- Address and resolve personnel issues and conflicts.
- Initiate and oversee training programs for technical and assistant staff.
- Maintain comprehensive employee records, including evaluations and incident reports.
- Schedule and execute performance evaluations, recommending salary adjustments as appropriate.
- Assist in the revision of job descriptions for support roles.
- Organize and lead staff meetings to enhance communication and teamwork.
- Provide training on operational systems, equipment, and protocols.
- Foster a positive work environment to promote teamwork and morale.
- Participate in management meetings, representing the veterinary support team.
- Plan and facilitate monthly meetings for veterinary assistants and technicians.

Inventory Management:
- Collaborate with the Inventory Coordinator to ensure adequate stock of pharmacy items and medical supplies.
- Conduct physical inventory checks as required.
- Manage the return of expired medications.
- Assist in ordering pharmacy items and medical supplies as necessary.
- Participate in the bi-annual inventory assessment across the clinic.

Operational Duties:
- Ensure medical equipment is maintained according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Provide primary support to veterinarians during procedures.
- Monitor adherence to safety regulations set by OSHA, DEA, and FDA.
- Perform the duties of veterinary assistants and technicians as needed.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Work Environment:
A dynamic and busy veterinary hospital with a strong emphasis on client interaction. Attention to detail, effective multitasking, and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.

Continuing Education:
Participation in training sessions and meetings as required.
