Aquatics Specialist Job Description

Under the direction of the Aquatic Director, this position will oversee the day-to-day activities of the aquatics programs and facilities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests. The Aquatics Specialist will interact with guests, provide direction and answers to questions, and maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Guest Services: Provide exceptional customer service, maintain a clean and safe environment, and ensure events and activities begin and end on time.
  • Leadership to Swim Team: Provide instruction, coaching, and guidance to the swim team, adhering to ARC Learn To Swim and Authorized Provider guidelines.
  • Maintenance and Safety: Maintain all public and restricted areas, report defects and necessary repairs, and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
  • Emergency Response: Coordinate response and direction to members in emergency situations, report incidents and accidents, and generate accurate reports.
Requirements:
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum age of 16 preferred.
  • Current certifications in American Red Cross First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Lifeguard Training.
  • Water Safety Instruction Certification (WSI) Required.
Competencies:
  • Ability to swim with proficiency and endurance.
  • Knowledge of basic swimming techniques and ability to teach swimming to all age groups.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter.

This position requires light to heavy physical work, with the ability to lift and carry 40 pounds. The work environment includes an office and outdoor/pool environment with a low to high noise level.
