Occupational Therapy Assistant Job Description

Sigma Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team in Tacoma, WA. As a COTA, you will play a vital role in providing occupational therapy and related services to patients under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in screening and providing input to initial evaluation of patients as appropriate.
  • Provide direct supervision to rehab techs in tasks during group and individual treatment.
  • Enhance clinical expertise and professional skills through interaction with managers, therapists, and other professional staff.
  • Maintain valid state license and awareness of issues related to the profession of occupational therapy and the healthcare environment.
  • Understand various relevant payment models related to billing and treatment guidelines.
  • Be compliant with infection control procedures and environmental safety protocol.
  • Must be able to travel between facilities during scheduled hours and work varying hours and shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Requirements:
  • Prior to beginning patient care, a peer OT must complete a Competency Checklist.
  • Graduate of an ACOTE accredited school of occupational therapy.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic Internet navigation skills.
  • Valid Occupational Therapist Assistant state license.
  • SNF experience highly preferred.
