Controller Job Description

Lexington Medical is a medical device manufacturer in the Boston area that produces minimally invasive surgical stapling solutions. Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and consolidate financial statements and reports in accordance with regulatory and accounting guidelines.
  • Play a key role in maintaining the accounting and financial processes of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting and control.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Manage all aspects of the general ledger and sub-ledgers, providing timely and accurate financial information.
  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses to support business decisions.
  • Assist in the implementation of Transfer Pricing and coordinate or assist with the budget and forecast process.
  • Effectively prepare reporting packages for board meeting decks, ensuring timely and accurate financial information.
  • Research and analyze accounting issues to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Analyze and report cost variances to identify areas for improvement.
  • Serve as a liaison to external auditors, ensuring smooth and efficient audit processes.
  • Research, prepare, and execute Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation, to improve departmental or firm-wide processes.
  • Respond to financial-related questions from employees, providing timely and accurate information.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Master's degree preferred.
  • Understanding of GAAP and firm accounting policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in consolidating financial statements for globally dispersed entities.
  • Relevant industry experience, with a strong background in accounting and financial management.
  • Experience in SOX control execution/documentation.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Experience with accounting/ERP software.
  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, collaborate, and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment.
  • CPA certification desired.
