Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team on the 2nd shift. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of our fleet by conducting thorough preventive maintenance inspections, diagnosing malfunctions, and performing timely repairs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within scheduled time frames to optimize safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency throughout the fleet's lifespan.
• Execute quality preventive maintenance inspections on fleet vehicles following company protocols.
• Perform necessary maintenance repairs to enhance safety and reliability on all fleet vehicles.
• Address Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write-ups promptly.
• Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs according to manufacturer specifications.
• Document all work performed on work orders.
• Utilize Sysco computer programs efficiently.

Qualifications

• Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training or relevant experience
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Preferred Experience

• 2-year school and 1 year of experience OR 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair
• Current and valid driver's license

Preferred Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

• Annual Inspector Certification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Brake Inspector Certification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• ASE certifications (Preferred, Not Required)
• 609 HVAC Certification

Professional Skills

• Proficiency in computer-based diagnostic software
• Own and provide necessary tools for maintenance tasks
• Expertise in vehicle systems and components
• Knowledge in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems
• Skills in Preventive Maintenance Inspections and repair
• Basic welding and cutting skills
• Basic computer skills
• Familiarity with DOT regulations
• Understanding of OSHA safety and environmental regulations
• Strong physical dexterity and vision abilities
• Ability to operate various equipment and perform tasks requiring physical exertion
