About the Role

Shive-Hattery Group is seeking a talented Civil Engineer to join our Higher Education practice. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to develop their skills and expertise in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design complex infrastructure projects for educational institutions, including roadways, parking lots, site grading, and storm water management.
  • Prepare AutoCAD drawings, reports, construction cost opinions, and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Assist in onsite construction administration and observation to ensure contractor compliance with contract documents.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited engineering school with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and hands-on experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with a demonstrated commitment to client service.
  • Previous internships or summer experiences in general civil engineering or construction are advantageous.
  • Candidates should have either passed or be scheduled to take the fundamentals of engineering exam to obtain official Engineering Intern designation by the State of Iowa.
