Salary: The estimated salary range for this position is $50,000-$65,000 per year, paid twice a month on the 15th and last day of each month.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Special Education Teacher to join our team. This teacher will push into Math classrooms to support students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Additionally, the teacher will provide small group instruction through pull-out sessions and collaborate with general education teachers to modify lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Development and Execution:
  • Develop and implement a standards-aligned, Tier I English curriculum that meets the diverse needs of all students.
  • Design engaging and effective lesson plans that incorporate best practices and innovative teaching strategies.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to make accommodations and modifications to lesson plans.
Instructional Practices:
  • Continuously improve instructional practices based on feedback from students, colleagues, and instructional coaches.
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to assess and enhance student learning and achievement.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and ensure all students have access to the curriculum.
  • Push into English or Math classrooms to support students with IEPs.
  • Provide pull-out sessions for small group instruction tailored to individual student needs.
Collaboration:
  • Work collaboratively with grade-level teams to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive educational experience for students.
  • Collaborate with other science teachers to share resources, strategies, and best practices.
  • Participate in professional learning communities and school-wide initiatives to contribute to the overall success of Jefferson RISE.
Student Achievement and Accountability:
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing timely and actionable feedback to students and parents.
  • Maintain high expectations for student performance and behavior, fostering a positive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Be accountable for student growth and achievement, working towards continuous improvement and excellence in instructional practice.
Professional Development and Support:
  • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational trends and research.
  • Receive support and guidance from an assigned instructional coach to improve instructional practices and student outcomes.
Student Accommodations:
  • Implement and monitor accommodations and modifications as outlined in students' IEPs.
  • Use data-driven strategies to support student achievement and growth.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers mainly in the same content area.
  • Participate in professional development sessions and coaching to continuously improve instructional practices.
  • Stay one day per week for after-school tutorials to support student learning.
Family Communication:
  • Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress and IEP/504 meetings.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents and guardians to support student success.
Accountability and Growth:
  • Be accountable for high performance and growth, student achievement, and quality of instructional practice.
  • Contribute to the overall success of Jefferson RISE Charter School by engaging in school-wide initiatives and activities.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Analyze student achievement data in collaboration with team members.
  • Implement data tracking system and use data to inform instructional development and delivery.
  • Enter in student performance data in a timely manner.
  • Complete all administrative requirements before given deadlines.

School and Community Culture:

  • Embody and teach the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the school.
  • Design and implement programs that promote positive student behavior and motivate students to exhibit leadership values.
  • Build classroom community by investing families in students' academic success and development of strong character and leadership traits.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Degree in content area (preferred).
  • Content area certification (preferred).
