POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is designed to deliver comprehensive medical services to individuals receiving care at the Joseph S. Massie Unit inpatient and residential programs, as well as at the Allegany County Health Department Outpatient Buprenorphine Clinic.

The responsibilities include conducting thorough health evaluations for new patients to assess withdrawal risks and determine the necessity for withdrawal management medications, establishing medical diagnoses, and formulating suitable treatment plans. The position also involves prescribing and administering medications, providing patient counseling, initiating care during emergencies, diagnosing and managing both acute and chronic health conditions, documenting patient progress, and collaborating with the supervising physician.

In the Outpatient Buprenorphine Clinic, the role encompasses performing comprehensive histories and physical examinations for Medications for Opioid Use Disorders (MOUD) inductions, executing MOUD inductions, and conducting follow-up consultations for MOUD clients.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
As determined by the Maryland State Board of Physician Quality Assurance in accordance with the certification standards for Physician Assistants.

Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience in the capacity of a Physician Assistant.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate should possess:


Experience in addiction medicine (both inpatient and outpatient) with a focus on providing medications to support individuals dealing with Opioid, alcohol, and other substance use disorders during withdrawal, detoxification, and maintenance phases.

Experience in prescribing Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD).
Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal.

SALARY:
$95,991; inclusive of a full State of Maryland benefit package
