Job Summary

The Waste Management Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the waste management team. This includes communicating with drivers, scheduling service, and resolving route and service issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain contact between drivers and home base, dispatching drivers to calls as they are received.
  • Assign routes and service tickets to appropriate drivers throughout the day and for the next day.
  • Plan, distribute, monitor, and follow up on daily route assignments for residential, roll-off, and commercial drivers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve potential delivery and pick-up problems before they result in service issues.
  • Communicate service changes to Sales staff and answer incoming calls from Customer Service.
  • Work directly with Customer Service Manager, Operations Manager, and drivers to ensure prompt follow through of all issues.
  • Communicate with maintenance shop personnel and serve as an emergency point of contact to drivers.
  • Review route paperwork, enter customer information into the database, and close work orders from previous day routes.
  • Maintain all data in appropriate systems, including verifying dump tickets, closing tickets, and entering new driver and truck data.
  • Print, review, and make data entry corrections to productivity reports for route supervisors daily.
  • Distribute and maintain driver phones/radios, including completion of software updates and charging phones every evening.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and a minimum of 6 months of related work experience required.
  • Experience within the waste industry, transportation, or logistics is preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience in a call center environment preferred.
  • Good telephone and 2-way radio skills; ability to deal with internal and external customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office and typing skills.
  • Ability to react well under pressure and treat others with respect.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; work efficiently and effectively, both independently and as a team.
