Job Summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Registered Vascular Sonographer to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound examinations to diagnose and treat various medical conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Perform color duplex imaging procedures, including carotid, extremity venous and arterial studies, abdominal Doppler, small parts, OB/GYN, general abdominal/body, and other tests as assigned.
  • Verify patient identification and requisition/chart for valid written order, priority date, ordering comments, physician's notes, precautions, and patient consent forms.
  • Administer contrast material as appropriate and observe patients for adverse reactions.
  • Ensure proper patient preparation, verify screening protocols, and answer questions.
  • Communicate with patients clearly and in a professional manner.
  • Participate in a learning experience with new employees and students.
  • Perform quality control on assigned equipment and report issues timely.
  • Attend departmental and facility meetings/classes.
  • Complete required courses/modules on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Two (2) years' experience in ultrasound preferred.
  • Associate's degree in Ultrasound Technology or Graduate of Accredited Sonography Program.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) by first day of employment.
Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in a hospital or hospital clinic environment.
