About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health in Norfolk, Virginia. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to adolescents and teens exhibiting behavioral and mental health concerns.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and evaluate nursing care on an assigned unit for patients, including assessing patient's normal and abnormal physiological, psychological, and social factors.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, ensuring consistent use of the nursing and residential care process in providing quality care.
  • Administer necessary treatments or interventions, demonstrating understanding of treatment, interventions, and procedures for implementation.
  • Collaborate with other department personnel in establishing and complying with resident care standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Provide successful therapeutic clinical interventions on an age-appropriate level, assisting patients in modifying thought, perception, affect, behavior, and/or motivation.
Requirements
  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia or compact authority as a LPN.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with active licensure and registration by the Virginia Board of Nurse Examiners as a LPN/LVN.
  • Experience as a LPN, providing clinical care, generally equivalent to 1 or more years; experience in behavioral health strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in the use of computer systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
