Position: Speech and Language Therapy Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students' speech and language development by implementing therapy in accordance with their Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Design and deliver tailored individual and group speech and language therapy sessions aligned with specific speech/language objectives under the guidance of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).
  • Execute established treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising SLP.
  • Assist in conducting screenings and evaluations as directed by the supervising SLP.
  • Gather data and document student progress towards achieving IEP goals.
  • Prepare therapeutic materials for classroom use, including visual aids and interactive games, as well as equipment like augmentative communication devices.
  • Utilize behavior management strategies to foster a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Engage in parent conferences and contribute to pupil instruction and planning processes.
  • Perform various clerical tasks, including maintaining records and preparing reports related to assigned students, while ensuring proper documentation for the interdisciplinary team.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements in speech therapy by attending professional development seminars, reviewing current literature, and participating in relevant professional organizations.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communicative Disorders or a related field is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid California License as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant issued by the California Speech Language and Hearing Audiology Board.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant, ideally in an educational environment.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.

Supervision:

This role reports directly to the Speech and Language Pathologist.

Commitment:

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position following a 10-month schedule aligned with the academic year.

Salary is commensurate with experience, accompanied by a competitive benefits package and generous leave policies.
