Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to lead the architecture and design of our software systems, encompassing full-stack web applications and secure, high-volume data pipelines. This role is crucial for the development of our CoStar Benchmark product, which serves the hospitality sector by providing actionable data and insights.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with Product and Technology leadership to comprehend complex functional requirements and implement suitable technical solutions.
2. Work with development teams to establish the appropriate architectural direction based on project demands, resource availability, and timelines.
3. Ensure existing systems are well-documented and serve as a reliable source of architectural knowledge across various platforms.
4. Act as an architectural expert, providing guidance and best practices to technical leadership and development teams.
5. Promote architectural principles to ensure high-quality, consistent outcomes across all teams.
6. Maintain architectural diagrams and system documentation to support ongoing development efforts.
7. Stay informed about emerging technologies and assess their potential to enhance our systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Over 10 years of experience in designing complex enterprise-level web applications, with a strong understanding of microservices and secure system development.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Extensive experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and familiarity with various cloud services.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in conveying architectural concepts through diagrams.
