Position Overview

The Timken Company is seeking a skilled CNC Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the setup and operation of various multi-axis CNC machine tools to produce high-quality component parts according to engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, program sheets, and process instructions to determine the necessary work.
  • Execute diverse operations on numerical control machining centers.
  • Conduct a variety of milling, drilling, and boring operations while adhering to tight tolerances.
  • Review setup sheets and specifications to establish machining sequences and dimensions for finished components.
  • Attach fixtures to machine beds and securely position workpieces according to setup guidelines.
  • Select and install appropriate cutting tools in the machine spindle or magazine.
  • Load programs into the machine control console or retrieve preprogrammed instructions from the database.
  • Manipulate controls and enter commands to index cutting tools to specified positions and initiate machine operations.
  • Monitor machine operations to identify malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
  • Change cutting tools and reposition workpieces during the machining process as directed by setup instructions.
  • Perform various inspection and gauging tasks to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Measure workpieces to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Notify supervisors of any discrepancies encountered.
  • Utilize override controls to rectify conditions that fall outside of tolerance levels.
  • Adjust machine feed rates and speeds, and change cutters as necessary when programming issues or machine malfunctions occur.
  • Machine materials beyond metal, including composites, plastics, and rubber.
  • Maintain cleanliness of machines, tooling, and parts.
  • Conduct routine machine maintenance.
Required Skills and Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on machining setup, tooling design, and machine operation.
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, inspection techniques, and fixturing is preferred.
  • Ability to utilize and set up various measuring devices and gauges.
  • Demonstrated capability to follow written and oral instructions effectively.
  • Mathematical proficiency, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of workplace safety, cleanliness, and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration among peers.
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, climb, lift, and move up to 50 pounds, as well as perform manual tasks requiring dexterity.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
