Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a qualified Federal Construction Superintendent / Quality Control Manager / Safety and Health Officer to oversee our federal construction projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all construction activities meet the highest standards of quality and safety. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of daily quality control and safety operations, while also serving as the project superintendent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the Quality Control Plan for the project, adhering to established guidelines.
- Ensure compliance of all project submittals with contract specifications.
- Assist subcontractors in creating their Activity Hazard Analysis and ensure compliance on-site.
- Review project plans and specifications to confirm adherence to requirements.
- Provide evaluations and support to staff and subcontractors regarding quality control.
- Oversee testing of materials and systems to ensure compliance with standards.
- Document and distribute inspection results to relevant stakeholders.
- Implement timely corrective actions to resolve quality and safety issues.
- Maintain hazardous material reports in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Conduct final inspections and ensure all project deficiencies are addressed.
- Administer the Safety Program for the project, following industry best practices.
- Evaluate construction sites for safety compliance and recommend improvements.
- Conduct safety meetings and ensure subcontractor safety programs align with project standards.
- Provide daily supervision of subcontractor activities and monitor performance.
- Communicate project status regularly to ensure alignment with company standards.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of construction processes, particularly in renovation and repair.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in vertical construction, with at least 5 years on projects valued at $2M or more.
- Recent experience in a similar supervisory role is essential.
- Completion of 8 hours of safety training annually for the past 5 years.
- OSHA 30 certification is required.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Work Environment:
This position involves a mix of office and outdoor site work, requiring the ability to navigate various conditions and maintain safety standards. Candidates should be prepared for physical demands, including lifting and working in diverse weather conditions.
