Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at the Elmira Psychiatric Center. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a critical role in planning and conducting activities for client/patient groups, working individually or as a member of a treatment team or treatment program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct activities for client/patient groups, including recreational and leisure activities
  • Analyze and report behavioral patterns to a team leader or other supervisor
  • Participate in team meetings, recreation/leisure assessment and evaluation
  • Requisition, store and maintain equipment and supplies
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must have a bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field, or a bachelor's degree in Recreation, Physical Education or Adaptive Physical Education with one year of experience in planning and administering a therapeutic recreation program. Current credentials as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or current licensure by NYS as a Creative Arts Therapist are also acceptable.
