Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented pharmacist to provide pharmacy services to patients, nurses, physicians, and other medical staff by interpreting and evaluating the validity and safety of orders and prescriptions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Patient Safety: Safeguard patients by ensuring the safe handling of drugs in the facility.
  • Develop and Maintain Policies: Create and update policies and procedures for drug handling and distribution, including receipt, storage, recordkeeping, and accountability of prescription drugs.
  • Provide Pharmaceutical Services: Ensure the maximum level of safety and efficacy in the provision of pharmaceutical services.
  • Comply with Regulations: Adhere to all laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice, including those related to controlled substances.
  • Document Visits and Activities: Record all visits and activities, including any irregularities.
  • Train Facility Staff: Provide training and instruction to facility staff on medication administration, adverse reactions, and other relevant topics.
  • Interact Effectively: Ability to handle stressful situations and interact effectively with others.
  • Maintain Patient Profiles: Maintain accurate patient profiles and provide take-home medication to eligible patients.
  • Conduct Inventory and Audits: Conduct biennial inventory and participate in regulatory agency surveys or audits.
  • Conduct Business in a Professional Manner: Conduct all business activities in a professional and ethical manner.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Licensure: Current licensure as a pharmacist in New Mexico.
  • Certifications: Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Understanding of HIPAA, Federal, State, and CARF standards and regulations. Knowledge of medications that interact with methadone. Ability to recognize methadone overdose and take appropriate action. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent documentation and computer skills. Knowledge of local community drug trends and addiction treatment. Ability to work effectively within a medical hierarchy and with a diverse population. Knowledge of Code of Pharmacy Regulations in the State where assigned. Ability to supervise personnel. Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
