About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Surgical Assistant to join our team at Premier Periodontics. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Doctor during various treatments, exams, and procedures.
  • Take and develop x-rays, photos, and CBCTs, and upload them into patient charts as necessary.
  • Review patient health histories and document all medications, medical conditions, and alert the Doctor to any abnormalities.
  • Obtain and document patients' blood pressures and alert Doctors to any abnormalities.
  • Perform the setup and breakdown of all operatory equipment, instruments, and document on time to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Solely work a Doctor's column of surgeries, exams, and patient procedures recalls.
  • Assist Hygienists with patient care whenever necessary.
  • Direct Doctors accordingly to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain dental office aseptic and infection control with all materials, equipment, and during patient care.
  • Maintain the surgical site and anticipate chairside surgical assisting protocol in a proficient and competent manner.
  • Demonstrate cost controls while stocking rooms, storing, and ordering materials and preparing and using dental materials during procedures and exams.
  • Educate patients in all practice procedures, exams, and procedures recall.
  • Enter all patient documentation into the Electronic Dental Record for legal compliance, review, and Doctors' signoffs.
  • Prepare accurate, complete, and professional treatment plans for procedures scheduling and insurance benefits coordination.
  • Provide electronic records tactics required to ensure complete patient insurance benefits coordination.
  • Hand off patients to the front office staff following exams and procedures to ensure patient scheduling of procedures.
  • Assess and professionally address any patient questions and/or concerns and manage the patient care while in the direct care of the Surgical Assistant.
  • Adhere to all practice procedures, policies, and regulatory mandates.
