Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Fabrication Operator to work in our manufacturing facility. This role will report directly to the Shift Lead and involves operating various machinery and saws within the fabrication area. The primary responsibility is to utilize machines for bending PVC pipe, ensuring adherence to specifications and maintaining product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shift Operator Duties: Maintain safety, quality, and production rates according to established goals for each machine.
- Operate diverse machinery in the fabrication process.
- Possess knowledge of safety protocols for each machine, including emergency stops and pinch points.
- Notify the Shift Lead of any potential safety violations.
- Understand startup and shutdown procedures for machinery.
- Ensure machines are consistently loaded and operational.
- Communicate with forklift personnel or the Shift Lead regarding inventory levels of cut blanks.
- Conduct quality control checks on finished products throughout the production run.
- Complete quality control documentation every two hours during the production run.
- Verify accuracy of quantities, part numbers, and labels on finished products.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area throughout the shift.
Pipe Cutting Responsibilities:
- Operate various saws for cutting PVC pipe.
- Sign off on orientation sheets as required.
- Adhere to safety procedures for all cutting machinery.
- Follow directives from the Shift Lead regarding pipe sizes and cut lengths.
- Monitor cut lengths for compliance with specifications.
- Maintain communication with forklift personnel or the Shift Lead regarding stock levels.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization in the work area throughout the shift.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic math skills for accurate counting and calculations.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and effective time management.
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Capability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move up to 70 pounds.
Within the first three months, you will:
- Gain an understanding of our safety culture.
- Learn the fundamental responsibilities of your role.
- Become familiar with the pathways for advancement within the operator ranks.
