REPORTS TO: QUALITY CONTROL MANAGER

OVERVIEW:

Under the supervision of the Quality Control Manager, the Quality Control Inspection Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting both manufacturing and engineering teams within the inspection sector. This position involves assisting in wafer fabrication production, documenting and reviewing operational processes, and managing the rework of non-conforming wafers. The specialist will also maintain process controls through Statistical Process Control (SPC), gather and interpret data, and suggest corrective measures to enhance manufacturing efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist manufacturing and engineering teams in the inspection sector.
  • Support wafer fabrication production to ensure efficient and cost-effective processing.
  • Document and review operational processes, collaborating with engineering to implement necessary changes smoothly.
  • Manage the rework of non-conforming wafers, ensuring timely completion.
  • Collect and analyze data, recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain process controls utilizing SPC and prepare relevant charts and graphs.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process challenges in the inspection area.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by recommending modifications to procedures or processes.
  • Support training and certification of operators on various tools and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing or engineering to qualify or approve new processes or procedures.
  • Respond to inquiries from team members, management, or other departments.
  • Overtime may be required based on business needs.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties of a similar nature or level as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Two years of experience in the semiconductor industry within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of electronics and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to utilize various inspection tools, including microscopes and other equipment.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor and hard disk drive industry principles and practices.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access for data analysis and document creation.
  • Knowledge of SPC for maintaining process controls.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data using SPC, including presenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
  • Capability to troubleshoot various tools and equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with contractors, consultants, employees, management, and vendors.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Flexibility and ability to prioritize tasks.

The hourly compensation for this full-time role ranges from $25.29 to a bonus target, along with benefits. The individual pay may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, relevant knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience. The pay range is subject to periodic review and adjustment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Quality Control Inspection Specialist primarily operates in an indoor environment on a rotating B shift schedule. The role is situated within a class 100 ESD-sensitive wafer manufacturing facility, requiring the use of a cleanroom suit, including hood, gloves, safety glasses, booties, and mask. The schedule may be adjusted to meet operational needs, and there may be travel between buildings as necessary. The specialist may encounter hazardous conditions, chemicals, fumes, and gases during their workday, and may be exposed to loud noise. The role involves extensive visual inspection using a microscope, requiring standing, walking, bending, and twisting. The specialist will perform fine grasping movements, operate a computer, and may occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
