Operations Coordinator for Student Senate

Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to serve as the Operations Coordinator for the Undergraduate Student Senate. This role will provide critical support to the organization's daily operations, ensuring the smooth execution of events, programs, and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide fiscal oversight to the organization, ensuring accurate budget tracking and management
  • Support the daily operations of the Undergraduate Student Senate, including event planning and coordination
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance student engagement and leadership development
  • Collaborate with university departments and student organizations to promote student success and well-being
  • Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures, as well as relevant laws and regulations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business, finance, or higher education
  • Experience in student affairs or higher education, with a focus on budget management and student engagement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Commitment to social justice, diversity, and inclusion, with a focus on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field
  • Experience advising student organizations and working with university policy
  • Knowledge of accounts payable, general ledger, and generally accepted accounting principles
  • Familiarity with Banner Finance, HokieMart, Chrome River, and/or similar software programs
