Job Summary

The Rotor-Wing IFR Strike Team Pilot plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of patients in emergency medical situations. As a key member of the Air Evac Lifeteam, this pilot will be responsible for operating company aircraft in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, Part 135, and the Air Evac EMS Operations Manual.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creates and maintains pilot information guides, including location, frequencies, and procedures for flying into hospitals and other EMS agencies.
  • Conducts local area orientations as required to ensure pilots are familiar with the area and any specific procedures.
  • Monitors forecast changes and current weather situations to ensure safe flight operations.
  • Operates the aircraft in a safe and efficient manner, with emphasis on compliance with the Rotorcraft Flight Manual.
  • Reports any major malfunctions, aircraft damage, or injured personnel to the Operations Center in a timely manner.
  • Ensures all operations involving company aircraft are in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, the Air Evac Operations Manual, and any state or municipal regulations.
Requirements
  • FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter certificate
  • FAA Helicopter instrument rating
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current FAA Class II Medical certificate
  • 2000 hours total flight time
  • 1500 hours helicopter time
  • 1000 hours pilot in command
  • 1000 hours turbine
  • Minimum of 200 helicopter night flight hours (aided and/or unaided)
  • 200 Instrument Hours (Actual / Hood / SIM) 50 Hours Actual in Aircraft
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Regularly reach with hands and arms
  • Frequently required to sit for long periods of time
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
