Position Overview

The Registered Nurse in the Cath Lab is responsible for delivering direct patient care utilizing the nursing process, adhering to the relevant scope and standards of practice.

This role involves close interaction with patients undergoing catheterization procedures, ensuring their comfort and understanding of the process.

The nurse will implement care plans, which include administering medications, collecting specimens, and providing various clinical treatments.

Documentation of patient care is essential, as well as monitoring and communicating the patient's condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and their families.

Assistance with daily living activities, such as personal hygiene, nutrition, and mobility, is also a key responsibility.

Collaboration across disciplines is necessary to coordinate comprehensive patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and addressing spiritual or psychosocial support needs.

Evaluating the educational needs of patients and their families is critical, providing tailored education based on age, culture, and medical condition.

The nurse acts as an advocate for the physical and emotional health of patients.

Additional duties may be assigned as required, including performing tasks typically associated with other nursing roles.

Participation in staff meetings, training sessions, and committees is expected.

Compliance with the policies and procedures of the Southern Tennessee Regional Health System - Winchester is mandatory.

Shifts may include overtime as necessary, and the nurse must adhere to the established dress code, maintaining a professional appearance.


Qualifications

Minimum Education: An Associate's degree is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Required Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently are essential.

The role requires the capacity to function effectively in a high-pressure environment.

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.

Licenses: A current and active Registered Nurse Licensure for the State of Tennessee is mandatory.
