Surgical Instrument Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Instrument Specialist to join our team at Beacon Health System. As a Surgical Instrument Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the proper care, preparation, and maintenance of sterile and unsterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
Key Responsibilities
- Decontaminate surgical instrumentation, adhering to departmental procedures and policies.
- Inspect and assemble surgical instrumentation, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Sterilize instrumentation, verifying that it meets accreditation standards and departmental procedures.
- Complete quality control checks, documenting results and maintaining accurate records.
- Ensure proper inventory levels, filling requests according to established unit of measure.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a medical terminology course and surgical or sterile processing experience preferred.
- Minimum one year of healthcare or materials management experience required.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Censitrac, Word, Excel, and Windows applications.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a sterile processing and distribution environment, requiring physical exertion and attention to detail.
- Potential exposure to physical, chemical, and bio-hazards.
Physical Demands
- Requires physical ability, manual dexterity, and stamina to perform essential functions of the position.
