Position Title: Physical Therapist

Position Summary:

The Physical Therapist is responsible for delivering comprehensive physical therapy services, which encompass the assessment, treatment, and prevention of disabilities, injuries, and health-related conditions. Utilizing a variety of therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to heat, cold, light, and therapeutic exercise, the therapist will evaluate and implement treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Adhere to established performance standards and policies.
  2. Conduct thorough evaluations and implement treatment protocols as per physician referrals.
  3. Develop and adjust treatment plans based on patient progress and rehabilitation potential.
  4. Perform regular assessments and modify goals as necessary.
  5. Provide care for patients across all age groups, including infants and adolescents, as required.
  6. Administer oxygen therapy under the direction of a qualified provider when necessary.
  7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.
  8. Utilize a diverse range of treatment techniques to address various conditions.
  9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting treatment and progress.
  10. Manage patient scheduling and ensure continuity of care in the event of absence.
  11. Educate patients and families on the use of therapeutic equipment and care practices.
  12. Supervise the activities of support staff and students in the department.
  13. Ensure the maintenance and proper functioning of departmental equipment.
  14. Engage in interdepartmental communication to enhance patient care.
  15. Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
  16. Provide guidance to families regarding patient care needs prior to discharge.
  17. Assist in the procurement of necessary equipment for patient care.
  18. Complete all required documentation and administrative tasks.
  19. Attend mandatory training sessions and contribute to departmental meetings.
  20. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program with a B.A./B.S. or higher degree.
  • Current New York State license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association within six months of hire.
