Bridge Engineer - Design and Inspection

GBA Companies is seeking a skilled Bridge Engineer to join our Transportation Group. As a Bridge Engineer, you will be responsible for executing significant portions of bridge design scope with minimal guidance from more experienced staff. You will work on conceptual bridge design, preparation of construction documents, and cost estimates. Additionally, you will review, sign, and professionally seal bridge load ratings in the State of Kansas and Missouri.

Responsibilities:
  • Execute bridge design work, including conceptual bridge design, preparation of construction documents, and cost estimates
  • Review, sign, and professionally seal bridge load ratings in the State of Kansas and Missouri
  • Use personal management skills to plan, organize, and monitor project progress
  • Share technical knowledge through mentoring and training less experienced staff
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • BS/MS in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or closely related field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Kansas or Missouri, or the ability to obtain licensure in Kansas, Missouri, Texas, or Illinois within 6 months of hire
  • At least 6 years of experience in bridge engineering and bridge preservation
  • Strong working technical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Working knowledge of Microstation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization
  • Willing to travel to conduct business of the company when and where necessary
  • Membership in at least one professional organization, with regular participation
  • Possess an attitude and commitment to quality while working in a team environment
