Job Summary:

The School Nurse Substitute will contribute significantly to the attainment of optimal health and educational potential of each student. You will work closely with students, parents, and staff to deliver high-quality health services and support.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications from physicians' orders (orally, parentally, nasogastric, or gastrostomy tube).
  • Maintain accurate nurse's notes and records, including summaries of services provided.
  • Perform medical procedures ordered by students' physicians (catheterization, ostomy care, suctioning, glucose testing, and other approved procedures).
  • Manage and provide health room services, including first aid and CPR, according to established procedures.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A valid Massachusetts (DESE) Nursing license (preferred but not required).
  • At least an Associate's Degree in the area of major study.
  • Experience in school, pediatric, public health, or other relevant nursing experience (preferred).
Working Conditions:

The School Nurse Substitute will work in a normal school environment with an acceptable level of noise. You will interact with students, parents, and other staff members. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of students.

Reporting Structure:

The School Nurse Substitute will report to the Building Principal and Director of Wellness and Health Services.
