We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at New Bridge Medical Center. As a key member of our Respiratory Care Services, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Administer oxygen, aerosol, and medicated aerosol therapy as per scope of service and NJ Board of Respiratory Therapy protocols.
- Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Perform blood-gas drawing and acid-base analyses, utilizing your certification and expertise.
- Provide suctioning of patient airway, tracheal, and mouth care, as well as bronchial hygiene, to maintain patient comfort and respiratory health.
- Deliver, set-up, monitor, and change medical gases as required, adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist with intubation, tracheostomy care, and cardiopulmonary evaluations and assessments, utilizing your knowledge and skills.
- Document patient outcomes and maintain required documentation in patient charts and department records, adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to facilitate resolution of problems and patient care issues in a timely manner.
- Provide clinical supervision of care given by technicians and support higher-credentialed personnel, ensuring high-quality patient care.
- Perform infection control procedures, process equipment as needed, and report problems or unusual circumstances to the appropriate team member.
- Graduation from an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy program required for new hires.
- Current NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist certification required.
- Current NJ license as Respiratory Therapist required.
- 2 years of critical care experience preferred.
- Good oral and written communication skills, as well as good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English to the extent required by the position, with bilingualism preferred.
Our Respiratory Therapist will work in patient care areas, the Respiratory Care Services office, off-site locations, decontamination areas, and the tank yard, interacting with staff, patients, and family members.
Must be available for overtime and work on varied shifts as needed, with manual dexterity, ability to distinguish colors, and ability to hear alarms, breath sounds, and verbal instructions required.
