Job Title: Insurance Coverage Litigation Paralegal

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Insurance Coverage Litigation Paralegal to join our team at K&L Gates LLP. As a key member of our litigation support team, you will play a critical role in assisting our lawyers with various information management functions and factual investigations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Examine, organize, analyze, and summarize information related to particular questions and communicate it in a logical and usable work product.
  • Investigate factual issues using various sources, including libraries, websites, client repositories, and other outside sources.
  • Review Best's to confirm insurance company information.
  • Maintain client-, matter-, or practice-group-specific resources in electronic format or hard copy.
  • Be comfortable and conversant with litigation support tools (Nuix Discover, Relativity, Opus2, etc.).
  • Assist in all aspects of the deal or case, including drafting transactional documents and pleadings, drafting correspondence with insurers/insureds, coordinating document productions, creating and maintaining spreadsheets, and management of large complex cases.
  • Review corporate insurance programs; prepare insurance coverage charts and policy registers.
  • Provide support for hearings, mediations, court appearances, and depositions.
  • Trials and arbitration preparation and support in various jurisdictions.
  • Maintain all administrative standards set by the firm, including the preparation and submittal of daily time entries, attendance at administrative meetings, legal keying all client relevant/firm information, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Communicate and enforce firm policies as necessary.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for outside services, if necessary, following the firm's procurement policies.
  • Delegate work assignments and monitor workloads and capacity of timekeepers and other support personnel as necessary.
  • Develop procedures and systems to provide effective legal services.
Requirements:
  • College Degree preferred with at least 5 years of paralegal experience in the relevant subject area.
  • Leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed instruction and handle complex work.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and specific practice-group technology.
  • Must be able to produce accurate results.
  • Ability to anticipate, plan, and prioritize work while managing competing demands to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet obligations with confidentiality, integrity, and sensitivity.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to follow up on assignments with little or no guidance from leadership.
  • Critical thinking skills sufficient to make independent decisions regarding daily work tasks.
  • Ability to bring problems, concerns, or discrepancies to the attention of the supervising lawyer.
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and Excel.
  • Must be current in practice area industry trends and in the legal profession.
