About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Mental Health Clinician to join our Behavioral Health team at VNS Health. As a key member of our team, you will provide supportive counseling, advocacy, education, and care management to help patients and their families navigate mental illness, access community resources, and manage symptoms to remain safely in the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize approved assessments to identify clients' needs and develop initial and ongoing clinical plans of care.
  • Perform effective care management for assigned caseloads, leading care coordination for complex psychiatric clinical cases.
  • Provide supportive counseling and ongoing mental health services, collaborating with other agencies as needed.
  • Develop inventory of resources to meet clients' needs and provide linkage, coordination, and referral to appropriate service providers.
  • Participate in initial and ongoing trainings to maintain and enhance clinical and professional skills.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Family Therapy, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of mental health work experience providing direct services to clients with Serious Mental Illness (SMI), developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, and/or chronic medical conditions.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • License and current registration to practice as a Mental Health Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or related license in New York State.
