Position Overview:

The Clinical Assessment Specialist will conduct face-to-face clinical evaluations for individuals with serious mental health conditions, intellectual disabilities, or related issues seeking admission to long-term care facilities. These evaluations, known as preadmission screening and resident review (PASRR) Level II assessments, are typically performed in healthcare settings.

The role involves determining whether individuals meet the criteria for serious mental illness or intellectual disabilities and assessing their care needs while providing recommendations for ongoing support.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough evaluations and provide recommendations based on clinical assessments, patient records, and collateral information.
  • Determine the appropriate level of care and necessary services based on the patient's physical, behavioral, and psychological status.
  • Complete assessments promptly and within the scope of practice to fulfill all contractual obligations.
  • Utilize strong typing and computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Ensure adherence to program workflows and compliance with relevant regulations.

Ideal candidates will possess extensive clinical experience and a solid understanding of psychiatric disorders as outlined in the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual utilized in the region.

Additionally, knowledge of best practices related to mental health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, geriatrics, and other conditions requiring long-term care services is essential.

The ability to conduct person-centered assessments and provide meaningful recommendations for care levels is crucial.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for interacting with individuals and groups.

Familiarity with Federal Regulation 42 CFR, Chapter 483 is advantageous.



Qualifications:
  • Active, unrestricted licensure in North Carolina in a relevant healthcare field, such as Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Psychological Associate, or RN (with a master's degree in Psychiatric Nursing or a related field).
  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a relevant degree.
  • A clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and reliable transportation for travel within North Carolina.
  • A minimum of 3 years of practical experience working with mental health issues.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities or related conditions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet navigation is required.
