Job Summary

Forest Electric NJ seeks a Senior Electrical Estimator with medium voltage substation and distribution, pharmaceuticals, hospitals, and/or data centers experience to assist the company in its Edison, NJ location in meeting its goals and objectives.

The successful candidate will partner with other employees and assist project management as it relates to certain projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Produce estimates for electrical power, lighting, and low voltage electrical systems.
  2. Provide knowledge and expertise of electrical and low voltage estimates systems.
  3. Take an active part in preparing quantity take-offs of electrical and low voltage systems.
  4. Prepare detailed estimates including assigning material and labor values to take-offs.
  5. Acquire vendor pricing on specialty materials, equipment, and systems.
  6. Assist in the lead estimate review; periodically follow-up with personnel to review cost trends, forecast (or bids) versus the final estimate.
  7. Evaluate and assist with subcontractor and vendor scope and pricing review.
  8. Take an active role in the preparation, review, and recommendation of contract scope changes and field-related change orders.
  9. Actively participate and coordinate in project kick-off and turn-over meetings.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  1. Ten (10) plus years experience in estimating electrical construction projects.
  2. Electrical Engineering Degree from an accredited College or University preferred.
  3. Demonstrated experience in electrical power and lighting, preferably with medium voltage substation and distribution, pharmaceuticals, hospitals, and/or data centers.
  4. Must demonstrate ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects, and work with minimal supervision.
  5. Experience in hard-bid contract work as well as conceptual estimating.
  6. Working knowledge of ConEst estimating software is preferred.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  8. Proven communication and interpersonal skills.
