The Corporate Counsel at Life Time Inc. will provide critical support to the organization's day-to-day operations, manage employment litigation and disputes, and assist with company-wide projects and initiatives. This role requires a highly skilled and experienced employment law attorney who can provide sound legal advice, exercise problem-solving skills, and build relationships with key clients and business leaders.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Day-to-Day Legal Advice: Offer guidance on a wide range of employment law issues, including investigations, discipline, performance management, wage and hour, leaves and accommodations, recruiting, and onboarding.
- Manage Employment Litigation: Handle employment litigation and disputes, either independently or with the assistance of outside counsel.
- Support Operations Teams: Assist with onboarding practices, including analyzing obligations job applicants may owe to prior employers.
- Lead Compliance Initiatives: Provide legal guidance and support for compliance initiatives across the company.
- Draft and Implement Policies: Develop and implement new policies, practices, and procedures, and provide guidance on their implementation.
- Support New Club Openings: Analyze location-specific laws and implement necessary controls and practices in advance of site openings.
- Stay Up-to-Date on Legal Developments: Routinely monitor and review legal updates and new federal, state, and local laws, and help drive necessary changes.
- Conduct Internal Trainings: Draft and conduct internal legal trainings to ensure employees are aware of their rights and responsibilities.
- Education: 4-Year Undergraduate Degree and J.D. from an Accredited Law School.
- Experience: 5-7 years' experience providing employment-related legal advice and managing/litigating employment-related disputes in a law firm or in-house environment.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid license to practice law in at least one state in the United States.
- High-Level Knowledge: Federal and state employment laws.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to provide comprehensive and timely legal advice, and interact effectively with clients and business leaders.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and prioritize tasks and manage an ambitious workload.
