Position SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing multifaceted maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning of machinery, mechanical equipment, and facility structures. This role encompasses various duties, including welding, equipment repair, and electrical work, while adhering to safety protocols and relevant food safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and uphold safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance and inspections on manufacturing equipment to guarantee optimal performance and minimize breakdowns.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues with extrusion molding machinery.
- Interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics effectively.
- Execute repairs and replace faulty components to maintain efficient machine operation.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Document work requests, work orders, and machinery failures using a computer maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Utilize electrical measuring instruments to resolve electrical issues.
- Possess knowledge of industrial electrical wiring and three-phase systems up to 480 volts.
- Understand process controls and PLC systems.
- Maintain chiller and plant air supply systems.
- Oversee resin delivery systems and record spare part usage.
- Operate machine shop equipment, including milling machines, lathes, welding equipment, surface grinders, drill presses, and band saws.
Education & Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in maintenance-related fields is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Proficient in reading technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Experience with PLCs and other manufacturing control systems is advantageous.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills for efficient task prioritization.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work effectively under pressure.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Familiarity with extrusion molding machines and their functions is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing.
- Highly motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage pressure and challenges proactively.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to bend, turn, and lift during job performance.
- Willingness to climb stairs and work on scissor lifts at heights of 20 feet.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, with appropriate breaks.
- Comfortable working around hot items.
- Knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Safety is a top priority; all employees are expected to adhere to safety guidelines and practices.
- Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during maintenance tasks.
