GENERAL PURPOSE:
Oversee all facets of store operations. Lead the entire store team to ensure compliance with company standards and best practices. Recruit, train, and develop the leadership team to achieve desired sales and profit outcomes while maintaining a welcoming shopping atmosphere. Manage the operations of the stockroom, front end, and sales floor to ensure timely merchandise availability, proper goods receipt, and expense management through effective practices and productivity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General Operating Requirements:

Implement all company best practices and enhance productivity by minimizing unnecessary steps and actions.

Review store reports to assess controllable expenses and overall performance.

Address any deviations from company standards with appropriate action plans, collaborating with district management as necessary.

Ensure proper scheduling of associates to meet business goals.

Accept special assignments as directed by leadership.

Manage payroll administration, including daily edits, scheduling compliance, payroll transmission, and reporting as required.
Organizational Development:

Recruit, hire, train, and develop assistant managers, area supervisors, and non-exempt associates.

Strive to reduce turnover through effective selection, training, and motivation, utilizing retention tools such as incentive programs and recognition opportunities. Ensure timely completion of all required training courses.

Address personnel and performance issues, including coaching, warnings, and disciplinary actions when necessary.

Ensure compliance with company personnel policies and procedures.

Manage associate relations issues, consulting with district management as needed.

Ensure adherence to all state, local, and federal regulations.
Expense Control:

Ensure all expenditures remain within budget.

Control payroll hours as the primary controllable expense, adjusting to current business trends.
Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment:

Uphold company safety policies and ensure the safety of associates and customers.

Ensure all associates are trained in emergency operating procedures.
Customer Service:

Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.

Exhibit courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times. Recognize associates through company recognition programs.

Implement customer service and merchandise presentation programs through associate training and supervision.

Supervise and coach retail associates in delivering efficient and friendly service across all areas of the store.
Personal and Store Brand:

Lead all store associates in maintaining a professional appearance in line with the company dress code. Reinforce adherence to the dress code at all times.

Represent and support the company brand consistently.

Manage the store to ensure a clean, organized, and easy-to-navigate shopping environment.

Maintain high housekeeping standards with the assistance of contracted maintenance personnel and store associates.
Merchandise Processing and In-Store Marketing:

Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are executed to company standards through effective task assignment and follow-up.

Ensure merchandise is presented and organized according to company merchandising guidelines.

Urgently manage merchandise processing to the sales floor within the expected timeframe.
Loss Prevention:

Train associates on loss prevention programs to achieve store shortage goals.

As a representative of leadership, demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers. Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.

Understand and comply with the loss prevention awareness program and manage store loss prevention, including maintaining a strong customer service presence on the sales floor.

Lead the annual inventory process, including preparation and execution of inventory guidelines.

Monitor mark-out-of-stock policies to ensure proper administration.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Five or more years of management experience in a retail environment.

Must maintain a high level of customer service.

Must demonstrate the ability to lead, manage, motivate, and communicate positively with associates at all levels.

Ability to train, coach, and develop associates at all levels.

Ability to organize and prioritize tasks necessary to accomplish goals and execute results.

Fluency in English.

Must exercise considerable independent judgment and discretion.

Ability to work evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Ability to use all store equipment as required. Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store. Ability to regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop. Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs. Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments. Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct supervision of assistant store managers, area supervisors, and all retail associates.
