About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Athletic Trainer to join our Hockey Operations team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to our players, ensuring their health and well-being, and contributing to the success of our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all functions of a certified Athletic Trainer, including team practices, preseason training camp, preseason, regular season, and playoff games.
  • Communicate with the Head Coach and team medical personnel to develop treatment plans for injured players.
  • Coordinate player treatment times, doctor appointments, and follow up with players to ensure adherence to schedules and appointments.
  • Work closely with the Director, Performance/Sport Science to develop training and recovery plans for players.
  • Maintain organized insurance records for all players and adhere to HIPPA requirements.
  • Assist players and their parents with insurance-related questions and concerns.
  • Communicate with team medical personnel to ensure the best treatment for all players.
  • Prepare for all practices and games, including preparing ice bags, water bottles, and other necessary equipment.
  • Develop an Emergency Action Plan for all home games, ensuring that hockey staff, front office staff, and arena staff are prepared.
  • Serve as liaison between the Steel and visiting team's athletic trainer.
  • Follow all USHL requirements for home and visiting teams.
  • Attend all team practices, home and road games, and select community events as determined by the Head Coach.
Requirements
  • NATABOC certification (required)
  • Illinois Licensed (required)
  • Graston, ART, Manual Therapy experience (preferred)
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited athletic training education program.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of successful athletic training experience (hockey experience is strongly preferred).
  • Outstanding communication skills, strong sense of professionalism, and friendly in-person demeanor.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, juggle multiple tasks, and perform physical tasks associated with the position.
