About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Designer to lead the design of our machine learning products at Databricks. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating intuitive and well-crafted product design solutions that empower our customers to work with data more effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design workflows that enable customers to quickly and easily create machine learning models customized with their own datasets
  • Balance the needs of technical practitioners with those of less advanced customers, ensuring that all audiences can successfully use their data to create powerful customer experiences
  • Gain a deep understanding of Databricks' business objectives, users, market opportunities, and competition
  • Partner closely with other product designers to ensure seamless integration with other areas of the Databricks product
  • Work closely with Engineering, Product Management, and other key stakeholders to drive critical initiatives from ideation to completion
  • Actively seek and provide design feedback, and collaboratively improve the design process
Requirements
  • 5+ years of product design work experience
  • Unique combination of technical knowledge and visual design skills
  • System thinker with the vision to design the big picture and the tactical ability to break it down
  • Proven ability to ship great products that are technically challenging but designed to be simple and intuitive
  • Strong tradecraft and ability to draw from a vast toolkit
  • Natural communicator who can explain and document the behavior of the solutions they design
  • Bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent, ideally with specialization in HCI, Interaction Design, graphic design, computer science, or related disciplines
  • Portfolio showcasing the end-to-end design process, from inception to production
  • Experience with designing products in the Big Data space and coding Python, R, SQL, or other relevant languages
