Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist

Singing River Health System is seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Interventional Radiologic Technologist works under the supervision of the physician who is performing the procedures. He/She provides radiologic care and services to patients, prepares and operates X-ray and recording equipment to produce specialized X-rays of the vascular and circulatory systems of the human body for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders.

Responsibilities:
  • Apply professional skills to a patient population of all ages
  • Ensure that the Radiology department meets TJC and ARRT standards and achieves the Singing River Health System objectives
  • Prepare and operate X-ray and recording equipment to produce specialized X-rays
  • Provide radiologic care and services to patients
  • Work under the supervision of the physician who is performing the procedures
Requirements:
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited, state approved, School of Radiologic Technology
  • Must be currently licensed as Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Must maintain a minimum of 24 Continuing Education credits in each two (2) year period as required by ARRT in Radiology
  • Must be licensed by the Mississippi State Department of Health
  • Must complete BCLS certification by the end of position orientation; must maintain current BCLS certification
  • A minimum of six (6) months experience in Special Procedures is preferred
Work Environment:

The work environment is moderately active, involving sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area.

Work involves exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Employee is responsible for safely moving, lifting and handling all supplies, equipment and patients, with assistance, up to 350 pounds.

Safe lifting practice is expected in all areas of job performance and employees are responsible to request help whenever needed, regardless of the weight, using available assistance, i.e. lifting devices or additional staff.

Work involves using many physical motions in performing daily work activities; subject to exposure of body fluids, sputum and tissues, which may carry the hazard of infectious disease.

Work involves using repetitive motions: substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard.

Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction; the ability to make fine discriminations in sound.

Work requires close visual and acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms/printed material that are closer to compare data at close vision.

Must be able to be active for extended periods of time without experiencing undue fatigue.

Must be able to work schedules assigned with the understanding that changes may be instituted according to the needs of the hospital for off days, shifts or weekends.

Mental Demands:

Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities.

Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.

Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.

Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.

Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required.

Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.

Must possess the ability to function in a clinical capacity and possess skills to perform functions and duties as required by the specialty area and understand that errors and poor image quality may have serious consequences for patients.

Must demonstrate supervisory skills and knowledge for supervision of other disciplines working on the same team.

Must possess skills to problem solve patient care issues and/or technical issues with physicians.

Must demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment and apply professional skills to a patient population of all ages.

Special Demands:

Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.

Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word.

Must possess ability to help ensure the department meets JCAHO, ARRT and ACR standards.
