Job Summary

The HVAC Mechanical Engineer will oversee a variety of vital mechanical engineering design work involving the planning, configuring, and execution of HVAC system projects. The position reports directly to the Director of Engineering and Design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Engineering Standards: Create and maintain engineering standards to ensure quality, fabrication, and production excellence.
  • Design and Development: Oversee the design of complete HVAC systems, including load calculations, energy studies, riser diagrams, equipment selection, vent schedules, specifications, and more.
  • Research and Development: Research, develop, and train on new products and systems to stay ahead of industry trends.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, train, and mentor project engineers to ensure successful project execution.
  • Business Development: Support estimating and business development with project-specific schematics, ideas, and options.
  • Site Review: Conduct site reviews as required to gain knowledge of facilities.
  • Customer Presentations: Present to customers as required.
  • Construction Documents: Coordinate construction documents, including drawings, submittals, and details, as required for awarded projects.
  • Engineering Support: Provide required engineering support during construction and commissioning phases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Current P.E. License in the State of Illinois.
  • 5 to 10 years of Mechanical Contractor industry experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a Design Engineer in the Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing trades.
  • AutoCAD/Revit experience.
  • Energy Modeling.
  • LEED AP a plus.
  • Control experience and the ability to work closely with the development of our controls team.
