This role requires exceptional skills, professionalism, and a high level of engagement. The position features minimal on-call requirements compared to other facilities. Flexible scheduling options may be available following successful orientation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment that promotes optimal patient care.
  • Utilize aseptic techniques in preparing materials, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Assist in the setup of the operating room, ensuring all necessary equipment is in place and functioning.
  • Act as a Second Assistant during surgical procedures as needed.
  • Notify relevant personnel of any equipment or supply issues.
  • Transport patients and equipment as required.
  • Ensure specialty carts are complete and in working order.
  • Perform patient positioning and transport duties, adhering to proper techniques.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care needs for patients.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required within six months unless exempted by department leadership.

Education:

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is mandatory.

Experience:

  • No prior experience is necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of aseptic surgical techniques and operating room equipment.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills are essential.
  • Commitment to maintaining annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and carrying up to 40 lbs. over reasonable distances.
  • Required to perform various physical tasks, including pushing, pulling, and transferring patients.
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and biological hazards is continuous.
