Position Overview:
RESOURCE SPECIALIST
JOB SUMMARY
The Resource Specialist will work under the guidance of the site administrator and in collaboration with the Director of Special Education. This role encompasses a diverse range of specialized and responsible duties, including the adaptation and implementation of educational programs tailored to meet the unique needs of students.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Credential:
A valid California teaching credential(s) that permits service as a Resource Specialist.
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree, fulfilling all necessary coursework for credentialing.
Experience:
Proven successful teaching experience is essential.
Personal Attributes:
Strong recommendations from educational professionals who have evaluated the teacher's personal attributes, academic achievements, and classroom effectiveness.
Skills Required:
Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure their completeness.
Establish and nurture collaborative relationships with colleagues.
Adhere to schedules and deadlines.
Organize and plan work effectively.
Design, implement, and assess educational programs for designated students.
Provide guidance to assigned personnel.
Analyze and interpret assessment results to adjust instructional methods.
Offer informed recommendations to educators regarding instructional strategies for specific students.
Deliver instruction in both small group and individualized settings, within the regular classroom or extended learning environments.
Prepare and present verbal and written reports to school staff, parents, and administration.Ensure compliance with directives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute a variety of specialized tasks; interpret and apply relevant rules and regulations.
- Deliver direct instructional services across all curriculum areas.
- Lead and actively participate in the IEP team.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional resources, providing tailored instruction to accommodate the diverse needs of students.
- Establish and uphold standards of student behavior conducive to a productive learning environment.
- Assess student academic and social development, maintain accurate records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents regarding individual student progress.
RESOURCE SPECIALIST
Burton School District
- Identify student needs and collaborate with other professionals to address health, behavioral, and learning challenges.
- Create an engaging and functional learning environment through displays and interest centers.
- Enhance professional skills through participation in district-provided training and self-directed professional development.
- Perform essential attendance and administrative tasks as required.
- Supervise students during out-of-class activities throughout the workday.
- Administer assessments in line with district testing protocols.
- May oversee the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other support staff.
- Collaborate with colleagues on special programs for students.
- Align teaching methodologies with student learning preferences for optimal educational outcomes.
- Maintain comprehensive records for identified students as mandated.
- Provide consultation, resources, and information regarding students with special needs to staff and parents.
- Physical requirements include the ability to work at a desk, stand for extended periods, and communicate effectively.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid California teaching credential authorizing service as a Special Education Teacher (Mild/Moderate).
- EL Authorization (CLAD) is required for all positions.
- Documentation of all degrees and coursework, including test scores (CSET, CBEST, etc.), and EL authorization (if not included in credential).
- Submission of a letter of introduction, resume, and three recent letters of recommendation, including one from a supervisor.
- Fingerprint clearance, drug screening, and TB testing are mandatory upon hiring.
