Job Summary

As a Pharmacy Intern at Duane Reade, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced retail pharmacy environment. You will assist pharmacists and other healthcare providers in delivering patient care and services, including patient counseling and other health services. You will also be responsible for registering all related sales on assigned cash registers, collecting and handling cash as required, and maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Register all related sales on assigned cash registers, collect and handle cash as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy department.
  • Perform duties as assigned and supervised by the pharmacist in accordance with Walgreens standard operating procedures for entering, third party processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
  • Immediately report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a school of Pharmacy program.
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills so you can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
