Job Summary

Hunt Regional Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team in the laboratory department. As a Medical Technologist, you will be responsible for performing and monitoring a variety of laboratory testing and analysis, as well as assuming responsibility for problem resolution, quality control, and maintenance with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in training or teaching programs by providing instruction on basic theory, technical skills, and application of all test procedures.
  • Assist in training and documentation of competencies for student and new employees.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in the laboratory (i.e. employee training, process improvement…etc.).
  • Assist with root cause analysis of occurrence events and determines acceptable corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Understand and comply with good laboratory practice, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Participate in readiness and internal and external inspections as needed.
  • Perform, document, review, and monitor quality assurance activities.
  • Evaluate, plan, and validates new processes/techniques, procedures and equipment following established guidelines.
  • Communicate to Lab Leadership on concerns affecting laboratory operations.
  • Communicate critical values and testing delays to physicians, nursing staff, clients, and other hospital personnel.
  • Communicate and handle problems with customers, physicians and other hospital staff and responds to their needs in a timely manner.
  • Maintain positive patient identification for all such samples processed following defined protocols.
  • Determine suitability of specimen for analysis, following established procedures, policies, and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate skills in specimen receiving, processing, including the LIS.
  • Perform waived, moderate and/high complexity analytical process, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting per manufacturer standards, recognizes errors, troubleshoot using scientific principles and knowledge.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate inventory of reagents and supplies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in lab science or Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • At least one (1) year experience upon completion of baccalaureate degree and certification as a Medical Technologist by a nationally recognized board/agency.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain a professional image and behavior.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge and technical proficiency in areas assigned within the laboratory.
  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory medicine and techniques.
Working Conditions

Occasional light lifting is expected. Ability to sit/stand for extensive periods of time.
