Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Support Services, the Medical Records Director plans, develops, and manages a comprehensive health record system of administrative and clinical data in the Health Record section of a correctional facility. The incumbent oversees a health record system that meets medical, administrative, legal, ethical, regulatory agency, and facility requirements.
Responsibilities- Supervises and directs staff in the Health Record section.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures for the health record system.
- Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations regarding health records.
- Collaborates with clinical staff to ensure accurate and complete documentation of patient care.
- Provides training and education to staff on health record policies and procedures.
- Analyzes and resolves issues related to health record system functionality and data integrity.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in health record management, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications- Registration by the American Medical Record Association as a Registered Record Administrator or eligibility for examination for registration.
- Two years of experience in a medical records office of an approved hospital, including supervision of medical records personnel or consultation to the clinical staff on the quality of medical records.
- Certification by the American Medical Record Association as an Accredited Record Technician or eligibility for examination for accreditation.
- Four years of experience in a medical records office of an approved hospital, including supervision of medical records personnel or consultation to the clinical staff on the quality of medical records.
- The position requires a Background Investigation to be cleared prior to being hired.
- The position requires a(n) Accredited Record Technician Certificate. The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their certificate prior to being hired.
- The position requires a(n) Registered Record Administrator Certificate. The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their certificate prior to being hired.
