Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing all necessary period-end closing journal entries for Controller approval and entry into the accounting software system.
  • Ensure timely reporting of all monthly financial data, including the review and approval of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Contribute to the budgeting process as directed.
  • Calculate and/or review indirect rates.
  • Ensure accurate processing and entry of vendor invoices.
  • Compare purchase orders, prices, payment terms, and other charges.
  • Process weekly check runs.
  • Assist with monthly accounts payable close.
  • File paid vendor vouchers and reconcile vendor statements.
  • Support all aspects of payroll processing.
  • Prepare and enter monthly journal entries for month-end close.
  • Assist with the annual 1099 reporting process.
  • Conduct research and ensure compliance, including government audits as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Controller or President.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, methods, and techniques for various routine accounting tasks.
  • Familiarity with Cost Accounting Standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on communication, collaboration, and coordination within the accounting department and across teams.
  • Able to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a dynamic work environment with professionalism and a positive attitude.
  • Proficient in analyzing accounting information to identify and rectify errors and omissions.
  • Ability to respond to auditors and external organizations' information requests as directed.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; skilled in Microsoft Word.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems.

Desired:

  • Certified Professional Accountant or Public Accounting experience.
  • Experience with government contracts and cost accounting across various contract types.
  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations.
  • Proficiency in Costpoint.
  • Experience with internal or external audits.
